The Best Lit Pools

Lighting a pool not only adds a seductive ambience, but it also helps sell a property, whether for hospitality or private use. The best lit pools all follow a couple of simple guides. Pool lights should generally be positioned at mid-height, roughly 9-12" below the surface of the water and pointed away from the property. One of the most common mistakes is using too many lights, average one light approximately every 8' for standard pools and for free form shapes, focus instead on a 60-degree spread. In smaller pools, that have only one light, position in the deep end for the best effect. Avoid bright white and select a neutral or warm tone for atmosphere.

The Hunza Pool Lite is an underwater luminaire designed for recessed installation in either fibreglass or concrete swimming pools and can be used with PureLED or retro fit LED lamps. It is fully submersible, tested to an IP68 water protection rating, machined from 9mm marine grade 316 stainless steel and features an electro-polish finish for additional corrosion resistance.

The luminaire is held in the PVC canister by two "O" rings. There are no mounting screws in the flange to spoil the aesthetics. Up to 600mm (2 ft) of cable can be coiled up inside the mounting canister enabling the luminaire to be removed for lamp changing above the water line.

  • Output - 600 Lumwna @ 1050mA

  • Lumens per watt - 100 Lumens @ 6 watts

  • Colour Temperature - 2700K, 3000K, 4000K

  • CRI Warm White (3000K) - 90 standard

  • Beam Angles - 15, 25, 38, 60 degrees

They can be used with an LED compatible dimmer switch to further provide a unique atmosphere for any space. The innovative Bulbs produce an amber light, in 2700k and 500 &560 lumens, with a power factor of 0.5. LED pool lights have lower energy consumption and a service life of up to 40,000 hours, which is great as a pool is not the most convenient place to be regularly changing fittings.
